[...] There are two great interviews with Multiverse co-founder and executive producer Corey Bridges that have been brought to my attention. I will summarise the more juicy bits here but it is definitely worth clicking on the links and reading the full text of both interviews. Firefly MMO News published the first one a few weeks ago. First Corey talks about how they acquired the license: “James Cameron, director of Titanic, the first two Terminator movies, Aliens, and so on, is on the Multiverse board of advisors, along with his producer Jon Landau. They have a great relationship with Twentieth Century Fox, so they introduced Fox and Multiverse. […] Happily, the Fox folks were fans. They were really enthusiastic about the idea, and of course Multiverse is chock-full o’ Browncoats. […] That’s what drove this partnership forward — everyone really wants to live in the Firefly universe.” [...]

looks good
I assume it will be running on vista (or a later OS)my reason being that the DirectX10 is only supported by vista.
and will it be able to run on a mac OS?

I've never one an MMO before, but for Firefly I'd seriously consider it. It sounds very, very shiny!

[...] Update 4: Why does it feel cooler to be linked to from Whedonesque than it does to work at Slashdot? The site also linked to an interview with Corey Bridges, talking little bit about the project at a site dedicate to the game. Fireflymmo.com just got added to my Bloglines feed, thankyouverymuch.

Is it going to be a thing where you pay monthly to play the game or you can buy it for a one time price and play it online?

This will all depend again on how they decide to develop the game. If it is either a 'sharded' world or a single world as mentioned in the interview then it is likely to be a game with a monthly charge.

At this moment in time I believe that the only MMO business model that has successfully worked where by you only need to buy the game is with the Guild Wars franchise. This differs to other games in its genre in that costs are kept down because of the way the world was built and is used in-game.

Since a design team have not even been essembled yet it is too early to guess as to what business model will be used.
